Fast digital printing

Digital printing can be quite fast.

Whilst the normal production time is five (5) days, your digitally printed job can be dispatched in a little as 24 hours — there is, however, a premium price if you want your job printed that quickly.

There are several reasons why digital printing is fast:

  1. Digital printing presses do NOT use printing plates. Digital printing presses use electricity, heat and dry ink (i.e.: toner) for printing, so your job can be printed the moment that the digital printing press is free. Whereas traditional offset presses use wet ink and printing plates. Printing plates take time to create (and eight printing plates are used for double-sided jobs), and there is always a queue for the plate-making machine.plates.
  2. Digital printing presses are clean, so no time is wasted between jobs cleaning the press. Offset presses, however, are very dirty machines, and they must be cleaned between each print run.
  3. The whole print run can be devoted to your job. Given digital printing presses use no printing plates, you can have a print run devoted to 'just your job'. Traditional offset presses, however, only become economical if many jobs are 'ganged' on the the one print run, and all those jobs share the cost of the printing plates (e.g.: A1-sized presses require eighty different business card orders before a print run of business cards can be pressed). This means that your business card job might be 'waiting for quite some time' before there are enough different business card jobs to have a business card print run.

Small print runs

Offset printing, as mentioned above, uses printing plates. These are very expensive to produce. So, whilst offset printing is very economical for large print runs, offset presses are NOT economical for small runs.

Digital printing presses, however, do NOT use printing plates, so small runs are normally quite cheap.

Faster delivery.

Digitally printed jobs are almost always very small, and this result is faster delivery times. Put very simply:

  • If a job weighs less than 5kg, then TNT's Overnight Express service is cheaper fir AllPrinting to use than TNT's Road Express service. So;
  • Even if you select TNT's Road Express service,, we will most probably send it via TNT's Overnight Express service.

An indication of the delivery speed is:

  • TNT Overnight Express — it will arrive at your street address some time the day after we dispatch your job.
  • TNT Road Express:
    • Overnight to Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong & regional NSW, Melbourne & north-east Victoria, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast & Queensland's south-east corner;
    • A day or two to Hobart & regional Tasmania, regional Victoria, south-east South Australia and south-east Queensland;
    • Three or so days to central and north Queensland, Perth & south-west Western Australia, Darwin & Alice Springs;
    • Five to seven days to remote Australia.
